The Role
We are seeking a dynamic, people-focused leader who can balance client relationship management with business development. This individual will be responsible for:
- Managing a portfolio of FS clients, ensuring they receive the highest level of service while keeping engagements within budget.
- Developing new business opportunities by attending industry conferences, networking with customers, and presenting at events to expand our firm’s reach.
This role requires travel across the country to meet clients in person, reinforcing relationships, providing reassurance, and ensuring they see Internal Audit as a valuable partner rather than a compliance burden.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Client Relationship Management & Service Delivery
- Oversee and maintain long-term relationships with clients, ensuring high-quality service and timely delivery of audits.
- Ensure engagements are delivered on time and within budget, balancing efficiency with exceptional client service.
- Work with challenging clients who may be hesitant to share financials or open their books, guiding them towards trust and transparency.
- Educate clients about best practices, compliance, and efficiency, alleviating fears about Internal Audit’s role.
🔹 Business Development & Industry Engagement
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and chapter meetings to strengthen our presence.
- Deliver engaging presentations that demonstrate our firm’s expertise and commitment to the client sector.
- Identify new business opportunities and potential partnerships to expand the firm’s client base.
🔹 Leadership & Strategic Growth
- Step up as the successor to the retiring CEO, gradually taking over leadership responsibilities.
- Reinforce a cooperative mindset when working with different types of clients, each with unique challenges and expectations.
- Ensure that our firm continues to provide peace of mind to clients, helping them stay compliant, efficient, and member-focused.
The Ideal Candidate
✅ Extensive experience in Internal Audit, Risk Management, Compliance, or Financial Services, preferably within the Banking or financial services sector.
✅ A relationship-driven leader with the ability to handle difficult clients and high expectations while maintaining trust.
✅ Proven ability to balance service excellence with budget management.
✅ Strong public speaking and networking skills – comfortable engaging with industry leaders, boards, and committees.
✅ Willingness to travel across the country to meet clients in person and reinforce relationships.
✅ A cooperative and educational approach, able to ease client concerns about Internal Audit and position it as a support function rather than an oversight burden.
✅ Experience in business development, marketing, or client acquisition would be a strong advantage.
