Turning Good To Great

The Background:
Our client are an A rated provider of medical professional liability insurance covers, established in Ireland in April 2022. They’re in the middle of building out a new strategic initiative and are looking at expanding further into Europe. With four key appointments sitting in Dublin, and having outsourced the compliance function, the model was always intended to have a full time inhouse Head of Compliance. As such they are seeking to appoint a Head of Compliance (PCF 15).

The Role:
As the Head of Compliance in your first year you will:
Act as a focal point for the Executive Management team on all compliance issues and implement a robust compliance framework, ensuring the firm meets its statutory and regulatory requirements.
Advise the board of directors on compliance within the Solvency II regulations and other laws applicable.
Have integrated seamlessly into a small team and gotten to grips with the startup nature of the model.
Have adapted to an environment with a little bit of risk/uncertainty attached to it.
Presented at board meetings and taken responsibility for the end to end compliance function with support from the board.
Continue to embed the framework and built out really good relationships with the CBI and the internal stakeholders.

The Person:
You have a proven track record of working within a CBI regulated environment and possess knowledge of the regulatory landscape as it related to FOS operations. You are a PCF who has operated in an autonomous manner and are comfortable working in a start up mentality environment. You have demonstrable experience of managing projects, are up to date on recent regulatory changes such as DORA & SEAR and are a vocal presence at strategic and planning meetings, thus contributing to the growth of the company. You have experience of working across different jurisdictions in Europe and have had exposure to the MGA model. Previous CBI experience would be advantageous but a commercially savvy mindset (understanding of the business & familiar with the friction that can exist between underwriting and compliance) and the ability to ask questions are key. You have a temperament capable of managing uncertainty, are flexible, adaptable and willing to roll your sleeves up.

The Team:
You will report into the CEO and work closely alongside the CUO, the CRO and the CFO.

The Opportunity:
You’ll join a pan European capacity provider with a focus on professional liability insurance where you’ll be a key asset in building out the organisation over the next five years. You’re joining a mutual which provides certainty of funding and where there is a level of patience and understanding that things take time to build. You’ll work closely with the CEO who will give you a lot of latitude to do things autonomously.

The Package:
Base salary + discretionary bonus (up to 30%) + Health Insurance (Family included) + DC Pension 12% non-contributory.
